Graham Mann

Graham conceived the idea for the Sail All program, and helped get the program off the ground in its inaugural year. He is now leading the newly-incorporated program into it's second year and has big hopes for 2014!
Graham grew up sailing at Lunenburg Yacht Club in both dinghies and keelboats. He has raced Opti's, Bytes, Lasers, and various keelboats, particularly his family's J/92. He instructed at LYC for two summers before spending his last three in the Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Rescue Boat program.
Currently in his final year of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University in Montreal, Graham loves all things water-related, and hopes to continue improving and expanding Sail All in the future!

Jonathan Chiasson

I grew up sailing a windsurfer on Bras D'Or lakes and discovered Mahone Bay twenty years ago. Since then I have been sailing competitively and recreationally, inshore and offshore. We are blessed to live in a province that boasts some off the most beautiful waterways in the world. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to sail in them.

As a teenager Karl was introduced to the competitive part of the sport and was able to compete as one of the top single handed sailors in the province in both Byte and Laser. Karl was a member of the Youth National Sailing Team in 2010. He continues enjoys sailing his Laser in local regattas and honing his skills on keelboats of all sizes. Karl is looking forward to entering his final year of studies at St. Francis Xavier University to finish up his Bachelor of Science. He is a very passionate sailor and coach and enjoys spreading the love for sailing to others. This will be his fifth summer as a sailing instructor at LYC and is keen to work with beginner, intermediate, and advanced sailors.
Gavin Hatheway

Gavin was first introduced to sailing when he was 9 years old by his father and siblings, and has been hooked ever sense. He enrolled in Learn to Sail with very little experience but eager to learn. With that he has been able to improve his skills as the summers and years passed, and make new friends from all over North America. Hard work and a love for sailing opened up great opportunities that included multiple national competitions whilst training with the Lunenburg Yacht Club race team in both the 420 and Laser Radial.
He has since moved on to coaching sailing and keelboat racing on boats such as the J/111 and the Viper 640 for evening and weekend races at CYC and RNSYS.
He graduated from Park View Education Centre in 2013 with an IB Diploma and is currently enrolled at Queen's University, taking a Bachelor of Science where he is on the cross country and indoor track and field teams.

Sydney Beatty

Sydney came to Nova Scotia to summer at the age of 14, after disliking sailing in her hometown of Toronto. After one week at the Lunenburg Yacht Club Learn to Sail program, Sydney had a newfound love for the sport and continued sailing out of Lunenburg for years to come. She started sailing in Optis and continued on to race 420s on the race team. When Sydney was back in Toronto, she would train throughout the fall and spring, and attended some regattas in the US. Along with her crew, Claire Boileau, they qualified as the Under 18 Nova Scotia Provincial Champions in their final year on the race team. Those years on the race team were some of Sydney’s fondest memories. Sydney is going into her third year at the University of Western Ontario and is studying English. Though Western does not have a sailing team, Sydney continues to spend as much time on the water as she can, sailing at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club during Tuesday night racing. Now having moved full time to Nova Scotia, Sydney has started this past year as an instructor at LYC and helping with the Sail All program. Sydney hopes to inspire a love for the sport and time on the water and be able to give kids the opportunity to try the sport that was the backdrop to her great memories.

Adrienne grew up sailing at Lunenburg Yacht Club where she learned the basics of sailing in Echoes and later raced competitively in 420s. She is now going into her fifth year as an instructor at the yacht club where she has taught Can Sail 1 and 2 levels and is now teaching the Wetfeet program. Adrienne loves to spend her time on the water with her family sailing Solings and J29s. She is going into her third year at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she is a member as well as the Director of Communications for the newly founded school sailing team.
Alexander O'Connor

Alexander grew up sailing in Lunenburg where he learned and now instructs sailing. Alexander is in his third year coaching optimist and first as a sail all instructor, he also enjoys sailing in keel boat races and regattas. He attends Mount Saint Vincent University in the winters where he is working his way towards a Business Administration degree.
Alex mann

Alex is a Sail All instructor, and one of Graham’s two brothers. Like Graham, Alex grew up spending his summers on the water, sailing at LYC from the age of eight. He has racing experience in Optis, Club 420s and Lasers, and has competed in several National Championships as well as a North American Championship. He also has a great deal of experience on keelboats, mainly coming from time on his family’s J/92.
Alex is now in his second and final year at a United States prep school just outside Boston, where he is pursuing both his studies and his passion for hockey. He always looks forward to returning home, and especially so when returning for a summer on the water.
